Master Dry Helps Farm Spotter Win Local Competition - Image 1

Master Services employees took part in an entrepreneurship style competition titled “What’s the Big Idea” in Knoxville, TN. The team mentored a start-up company “Farm Spotter” in perfecting and developing their business plan. The 48-hour launch event was held in the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center and was led by the Knoxville Chamber. Farm Spotter was one of six participants in the fight for $10,000 and free office space provided by the Fairview Technology Center to help in their business pursuit. Farm Spotter’s main idea was to create a mobile app that coordinates local farmers to nearby businesses and allows for collaborative communication between the supplier and the business. The app hopes to create an online marketplace for buying and selling local produce in support of the local farmers. Farm Spotter took home the gold and won the “What’s the Big Idea” Competition, with the assistance and business expertise from Master Services. Winners, Doug McDaniel and Jason Hanna, were thrilled with their success and grateful for the coaching they received from Master Services employees.

Master Services Graphic Designer and Marketing Assistant John Gargiulo, Marketing Director Trevor Jones, owner/CEO Josh Smith, HR director Michael Houbre, field supervisor Cole Hyams, and service inspector and former competitor, Michael Bowie, aided the team in formulating their idea and business pitch. They also led a full-blown market research and planning session, developed their pitch, perfected their logo, and educated them regarding the legal aspects of business ownership.
