Master Services collected donations and employees are shopping for gifts for 40 foster children of the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home. The children, who range in age from 12 to 17, are in the system but unable to be placed in traditional foster homes. Customer Care Specialists Amber Peters and Maggie Jackson, who organized the initiative, collected the children’s wish lists and distributed them to participating team members.

According to Peters, “Without gifts or monetary contributions, the children of the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home wouldn’t have a Christmas. We’re excited to provide them with as much holiday cheer as we can.”

The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home is “…a private, faith-based, non-profit, multi-service agency that provides care, love, and healing to children and youth who have no one else to advocate for or care for them.” To provide them with a merry Christmas, members of the Master Services team sponsored a child, made monetary donations, shopped, or participated in internal auctions to raise money for gifts. The team also collected toiletries and other necessities to send with the gifts. The company was able to provide gifts for every child in the program.

An internal employee appreciation committee worked for months to plan the event, adhering to CDC guidelines, which included a MEDIC Blood Drive, seminars from Jan Seiber, a nutritionist with UT Hospital, Elizabeth Hall with Food City and Erin Reed with the Knox County Health Department. Several area vendors set up informative and interactive booths including: TVA Credit Union, Knucklebusters Auto - Aamco in Powell, The Office of Neighborhood Empowerment, Morris Self Defense, Christy Lett with Arbonne, Knoxville Chiropractic Solutions, TN Bank Mortgage, Carin Brio- Attorney at Law, Garden Path School for Young Learners, Nicole Workman with Realty Executives and Parklane Jewelry, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Been There Done That Travel, First Bank, Amanda Woods with Pampered Chef, Within Holistic, Kat Van Dusen with Mary Kay, and Pure Acupuncture & Wellness.

Jason Nelson has been announced as the new director of operations for Master Services. Dustin Coffey, former director of operations, recently assumed the role of general manager.

Nelson has been with the company for more than six years and has 18 years of experience in residential and commercial construction. He most recently served as service manager, as well as provided training and technical support to the production department.

Dustin Coffey Announced as Master Services General Manager

Josh Sulfridge, general manager of Master Services, will be moving to Atlanta, Georgia to establish a new basement waterproofing, crawl space repair, concrete leveling, and foundation repair company. Dustin Coffey, former director of operations, officially took over as general manager for the Knoxville office on January 26, 2021.

“Leading this team has been an unforgettable experience,” said Sulfridge. “We have exceeded expectations, despite the uncertainty of 2020. I anticipate great things as Dustin takes the reins here in Knoxville.”

Coffey has more than eight years of experience in the construction and maintenance fields. He has held multiple leadership positions within Master Services, and is certified in basement waterproofing, crawl space repair, concrete leveling, and foundation repair.

Local Company Makes Christmas Merrier for Area Foster Children: Shopping Spree with Lots of Smiles

Master Services held their “One Community Shopping Trip” on Saturday, December 19th. The company sponsored fifteen children in the foster care system through the organization, Blount County Foster Parent Association. Staff volunteers were each given a “buddy” to shop with, children ranging from 2 months to 17 years old. Social distancing was observed, as the children were able to pick out clothes, toys and necessities for Christmas.

Organizer, Amanda Pope, the Community Ambassador for the company said: “This was a fun experience where we met some great families and made some new friends. A special thanks to Target on Clinton Hwy for all their help and kindness during this event.”

Master Services Provides Waterproofing Assistance to Water Angel Ministries

Master Services recently waterproofed the Water Angel Ministries basement as part of its initiative to serve and uplift the community.

“We take community service seriously,” said General Manager Josh Sulfridge, “and supporting a group like Water Angel Ministries, which provides so many resources to those in need, is important to us.”

Master Services team members undertook the project on Saturday, February 29, 2020. Among the items installed were a WaterGuard drainage system, TripleSafe sump pump system, and other waterproofing components.

Robin Hurst, General Manager of Master Services, recently announced her resignation from the company. Josh Sulfridge, former Director of Sales and founding member of the company, will officially take over as general manager on February 29, 2020.

“I have loved every minute of my time leading the company,” said Hurst, “and look forward to seeing what Master Services will accomplish in the future. With Josh, I leave the company in competent and seasoned hands.”

Hurst has served at Master Services for six years. As she steps down, she looks forward to spending time with her family and getting involved in more church and volunteer activities.

With more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry, Sulfridge is certified in waterproofing, foundation repair, and crawlspace repair. He has been with Master Services since its beginning in 2008, and has held a variety of leadership positions within the company.

KNOXVILLE, TN - On October 28, 2016 from 3:00pm- 6:00pm, Master Service Companies hosted over 200 vendors, community members and employees at their Official Grand Opening Night, held at their new offices on Clinton Highway. The event was not only a celebration of their new state- of- the- art facility, but also the overwhelming support of their thriving community and clientele who have have helped them grow into the business they are today.

The event included speeches from leaders within the Knoxville community, tours of the new facility, a chance to get to know Master Service Company employees, and an opportunity to learn about products and services that have helped thousands of homeowners across East Tennessee. Food was provided by Shafer Insurance and drinks were provided by Merit Construction.
