The support beams in this Cleveland, TN crawlspace were busted and rotten due to water damage. If the structure above a crawlspace lacks support, it can lead to joist sagging and other issues. First, Horace and his team mapped out the perfect location to install support jacks in the crawlspace. These areas are chosen to provide the best level of protection for the home. Next, the team prepared holes at each location to fill with tightly compacted crushed stone. A pre-cast concrete footing was then placed on the area.

The footing provides stability for the jack post, and it keeps it vertical while distributing the weight across a large area of soil. Next, measurements were taken for the crawl space jack posts and the posts were cut and installed. The jack was mounted against the girder, then plumbed.

The jack was tightened to lift the floor back to its original position. Now the floor above the crawlspace is stable and supported.

First, the team excavated 2’ square, 2’ deep holes for each SmartJack®. Next, compressed stone was poured into these holes to provide support. A footing is then placed on this area and leveled, and this step ensures that there is a secure base for the steel jack post. The jack posts are cut and measured carefully, and each is constructed with a triple-layer, in-line galvanized coating.

Next, the jack is mounted against the girder, then tightened to lift the floor back to its original position. The beauty of the SmartJack® system is that it can be adjusted or tightened in the future.
