Stabilizing Sagging Floors with SmartJack® Support System in Benton, TN
Challenge
A homeowner in Benton, TN began experiencing signs of structural stress beneath their home. Over time, crawl space supports can weaken or shift, leading to sagging floor systems and uneven structural load distribution. In this case, the existing support structure beneath the home was no longer providing adequate support for the floor joists above.
When crawl space supports fail or deteriorate, the weight of the home can place additional strain on the framing system. This often results in soft or sagging floors and can worsen if the structural load is not properly reinforced. Because the home sits on a concrete block crawl space foundation, restoring proper support beneath the floor system was essential to maintaining the long term stability of the structure.
Solution
To restore stability to the crawl space, the Master Foundation & Crawl Space Repair team installed a structural support system designed to permanently reinforce the floor framing. The project included the installation of 10 SmartJack® adjustable steel support posts, along with a 42 foot supplemental steel I beam to strengthen the existing support structure.
SmartJack® support posts are engineered specifically for crawl space environments and are designed to stabilize sagging floors by transferring the weight of the home to a secure base. Once installed, each support post can be precisely adjusted to lift and stabilize the floor system above.
By combining the SmartJack® system with the supplemental steel beam, our team created a stronger structural framework beneath the home. This upgraded support system now helps distribute the load of the home more evenly across the crawl space, providing long term stability and helping protect the integrity of the flooring system above.
