Challenge
A Knoxville homeowner reached out to Master Services with concerns about his large crawl space beneath their home. The area was damp, poorly protected, and essentially unusable. While it wasn't actively flooding, the humidity and lack of a proper vapor barrier posed long-term risks like mold growth, wood rot, and poor indoor air quality. The homeowner recognized the potential in the space and wanted to find a solution that would both protect their home and make the crawl space functional.
Solution
Our team recommended a full crawl space encapsulation with a high-performance dehumidifier to control the moisture year-round. We began by removing the old, ineffective liner and thoroughly prepping the area. Then, we installed a heavy-duty CleanSpace vapor barrier along the floors and walls to seal out moisture. We also added a commercial grade dehumidifier to actively manage humidity and keep the environment stable and dry.
The result was a dramatic transformation, a clean, sealed and dry crawl space that's now safe for storage and contributes to a healthier home above. The homeowner gained peace of mind knowing the area is protected and no longer going to waste. What was once a damp, forgotten space is now an asset.
