Crawl Space Encapsulation with Custom Door Solution in Louisville, TN
Challenge
This Louisville, TN homeowner was dealing with a crawl space that lacked proper moisture control and overall functionality. Like many unsealed crawl spaces, the area was vulnerable to humidity, which can impact air quality and the condition of the home over time. On top of that, the crawl space entrance presented a unique challenge. The door opening was oddly shaped, making it difficult to properly seal and not suitable for a standard crawl space door installation.
Because of this irregular entry point, the space was not only less efficient to access, but it also made it harder to fully protect the crawl space from outside elements. Without a proper seal at the entrance, even a fully encapsulated space could be compromised, making it clear that this project would require a more customized approach.
Solution
To address these issues, our team completed a full crawl space encapsulation system to help create a clean, sealed, and controlled environment beneath the home. This included installing a high quality vapor barrier throughout the space, paired with our Sedona Dehumidifier to actively manage humidity levels and maintain a dry, healthy crawl space year round.
The most unique part of this project was rethinking the crawl space entrance. Instead of trying to force a standard solution, our crew reconstructed the opening to properly fit one of our custom crawl space doors. This allowed us to create a tight, secure seal while also improving the overall appearance and usability of the entry point. The result was a much more functional and finished access point that complemented the encapsulated space.
With the encapsulation complete, the Sedona Dehumidifier in place, and a newly reconstructed crawl space door, this Louisville home now has a clean, dry, and well protected space beneath it. The upgraded entrance makes access easier and more secure, while also ensuring the system performs as intended. As a final touch, our team left the homeowners with a mat at the entrance, giving them a simple way to keep their newly transformed crawl space looking just as clean as the day it was finished.
