Lifting Sagging Squeaky Floors
Challenge
A Knoxville homeowner noticed that the floors in certain areas of her home were beginning to sag. Along with the sagging, the floorboards had become squeaky and were separating from the walls, creating visible gaps along the baseboards. These are classic signs of a home settling into its foundation.
During the initial inspection, our team discovered that the floor joists and support beams beneath the home were no longer providing adequate support. In East Tennessee, it’s common for shifting soil and natural settling to cause movement over time. This type of foundation settlement often requires structural adjustments and reinforcement to ensure the home remains stable and secure for years to come.
Solution
To restore the home’s essential support, Master Services installed seven SmartJack® support posts along with a 3-inch steel supplemental beam. Our team recommended this solution because it provides an adjustable and long-term fix by transferring the home’s weight from the weakened wooden joists to engineered steel posts.
Each SmartJack® was precisely positioned and anchored to distribute the load evenly across the basement. Once installed, the system was carefully adjusted to lift and level the floors back to their original position, effectively reducing squeaks and restoring the home’s stability.
