Crawl Space Structural Support with SmartJack® System in Signal Mountain, TN
Challenge
This Signal Mountain homeowner was experiencing sagging floors and uneven areas throughout the home, a common issue in crawl space foundations where existing support systems have weakened over time. Upon inspection, Master Foundation & Crawl Space Repair found that the floor structure lacked adequate support, and several joists were not properly transferring weight to the foundation. The crawl space presented additional challenges due to limited clearance, existing ductwork, and an aging steel beam that needed to be replaced while maintaining structural integrity throughout the repair process.
Solution
Master Foundation & Crawl Space Repair designed a customized structural reinforcement plan to restore stability and properly support the floor system. The project included the installation of 16 SmartJack® adjustable steel support posts, each set on stable footings and precisely adjusted to provide targeted lift and long-term support. Joist assist brackets were used to ensure proper contact between the SmartJacks and the floor framing above. To address load distribution across the crawl space, the team installed supplemental wood and steel beams, positioning them as close to the sub-girder as possible to support the maximum number of joists while working around mechanical obstructions. This engineered solution redistributed the weight of the home evenly and corrected structural deficiencies, resulting in a stronger, more stable crawl space foundation built for long-term performance.
